TRNSYS energy simulations

TRNSYS is a graphical software environment for simulating the behaviour of transient systems.
It is mainly used to analyse thermal and electrical energy systems, including buildings, HVAC installations and renewable energy systems.

As the sole authorized representative of TRNSYS in Poland, we have been providing licenses and training and conducting custom simulations since 2012.

Modelling of building energy systems

TRNSYS enables modelling of multi‑zone buildings with advanced HVAC system simulation capabilities. The software allows coupled simulations of buildings and technical installations with few limitations on system complexity. Its standard library contains around 150 component models, from pumps and basic HVAC equipment to multi‑zone buildings, wind turbines and electrolysers.

Simulations of renewable energy systems

TRNSYS is widely used for modelling solar thermal and photovoltaic systems, geothermal heat pumps and systems with hydrogen fuel cells. It offers models for different solar collectors, including flat‑plate, vacuum and concentrating collectors, and allows modelling of thermal and electrical energy storage.

Optimisation and parametric analysis

TRNSYS allows for the automation of parametric sensitivity analysis and optimisation using the built-in GenOpt module. The software allows for the free selection of output variables and time intervals for results. Each output variable can be derived for each time step or as an average value in freely selectable time intervals.

Integration with external tools

TRNSYS offers the ability to interface with other software programs, such as Excel, MATLAB, and Python. The program’s DLL-based architecture allows for the integration of components developed by users or third parties, regardless of the programming language. Its modular structure enables the combination of individual components into any desired system.

Creating own components

All components have been designed so that any user can modify them or even create their own new components. TRNSYS is distributed with source code, which allows users to develop their own models. Extended TESS component libraries are also available, containing over 250 additional models.
