Who is this course for?
The TRNSYS training course is designed for engineers and designers who want to model and analyze the operation of complex energy systems in real time—from buildings to renewable energy and HVAC systems.
Who are the participants?
-
HVAC and RES installation designers responsible for selecting heat and cooling sources, energy storage systems and hybrid configurations
-
Engineers working on building energy efficiency and optimisation of energy consumption in heating, cooling and ventilation systems
-
Energy audit and analysis specialists who want to extend their skill set with dynamic simulations in TRNSYS
-
Design and R&D teams working on new energy system concepts that require scenario verification and parameter testing through time-series simulation
Course programme
The course programme is structured to guide participants step by step from the basics of TRNSYS through to building more advanced models and running sensitivity analyses independently. Each topic block combines an introduction to the interface with practical exercises based on real energy system examples.
-
Introduction to TRNSYS and the working environment
Overview of the programme interface, data loading methods, graphical layer management and basic model components. -
Building and running simulation models
Creating simple and more complex models, configuring components, running simulations, and exporting and interpreting results. -
Control logic, macros and the Equation component
Basic and advanced methods for controlling components, creating macros, and using the Equation component to implement custom control logic. -
Extending TRNSYS capabilities (TESS libraries and custom components)
Introduction to additional TESS libraries and the basics of building custom components for specific energy systems. -
Best practices and sensitivity analysis
Running more advanced simulations, performing parameter sensitivity analysis, and applying best practices for model building and verification in TRNSYS.
Need training on your own models?
We can run workshops directly on your project files, addressing the current engineering challenges of your team.
Why train with CIM-mes?
-
Learn from practitioners
The course is delivered by engineers who use TRNSYS daily in commercial and R&D projects — we cover solutions to real problems, not just software features. -
Programme tailored to your project type
The scope of the workshops can be oriented towards buildings, HVAC installations, RES systems or other energy configurations, so participants work on topics close to their daily tasks. -
Theory combined with intensive practice
Each topic block is followed by practical exercises in TRNSYS, allowing participants to apply their knowledge immediately on real models. -
Post-training support
After the course, we offer technical consultations on model building and simulation result interpretation. -
Certificate of completion
Participants receive a certificate confirming their TRNSYS skills, which strengthens their position in the energy simulation and RES/HVAC design market.
